Just because it isn't the "server edition" doesn't mean it can't run a great server, though! If you have a 64 bit PC, you'll want the 64 bit version of Linux. The desktop version has a graphical user interface (GUI) so you won't have to configure your server using all terminal commands. However, Linux can be confusing for new users, so I'm going to use the desktop version instead of the server version.
